Client Feedback
I would like to thank you very much for the work you have done with John using the Davis Dyslexia program. He enjoyed his lessons and working with the clay. Having done the Maths section, he has come away with much more understanding and self confidence. Where he previously used to avoid or squirm out of having to do any maths calculation, be it time or any simple maths calculation, he now has the confidence and is eager to work out even more difficult calculations for himself.
John has now been promoted from the maths learning support program into the main stream maths class. I feel that speaks for itself.
I am so glad we tried the program; it sure has been very worth while.
Many thanks
My daughter Lisa has really benefited from doing the Davis reading program with you. She came away a much more confident child. Her reading and spelling has improved immensely. She is now in the main stream area of her class instead of in the learning support area. She is so proud of herself .
She loved the time she spent doing the program, she had so much fun and felt so good about herself. I have been amazed at the improvement,
Thanks again
I attended the Davis Program as a mature student. I went with an open mind and determined to extract as much knowledge as I could.
Once my aims were established, I thought the course structure flowed seamlessly.
The most important benefit for me has been the focusing technique which I now use daily. I have found that I can bring my focus back to the present situation more readily and can stay focused for longer periods. Focusing, along with throwing the Koosh balls has also proved beneficial in other areas such as golf, reading, and low stimulus tasks (where my mind would have previously switched off or started day dreaming).
The basic concepts section was also of great benefit. It was not until I had finished the course and took stock of things that their true relevance became apparent.
I have since found myself thinking about time in relation to future wants, goals and actually planning towards them.
For me there were certain concepts missing and I am very glad that I had an opportunity to clear them up.
Thanks Bets for working with David. The ADD attention program is great. David has come a long way, he is so much more focused now and does not appear to be always in a world of his own. It has made life much better for all of us.
His school has been delighted also, to have seen the changes, and the improvements continue all the time. That's the best part!
Thanks so much
My 8 year old son did the Davis reading program. He changed after just one week, from being terrified when someone asked him to read, to reading quite competently for his age.
He attends school now with confidence that he can cope with his classwork. He is also much calmer in all circumstances now that he has become oriented. I am very happy with the results and am determined to go through all of the trigger words with Michael until they are completed.
My 7 year old child has improved greatly. Her writing skills have improved significantly and her teacher mentioned that she is much more confident and happier in her learning environment often putting her hand up in class to answer questions, where previously she would prefer to have other class mates help her and not offer her opinion unless prompted to do so.
Adult female client says:
I have gained so much more over the last 5 days than I ever imagined.
I started the week being quite sceptical that the condition I had could be
dyslexia and that this program would address my issues.
However by going through the exercises it gradually became very apparent to
me that I did have symptoms of dyslexia and that the techniques to correct
these symptoms are very effective and progress was apparent in a short
period of time (although appreciate that ongoing work is required to
continue to reduce the confusions leading to the disorientation).
I realised as the week progressed that my objectives for the week were only
partly accurate (not that you ever pointed this out since your style is very
much one of guidance so that I came to conclusion myself, and as such
believed in it). So although my main objectives were to speed up my reading
and absorb more of what I've read, you also demonstrated the underlying need
for controlling emotion and anxiety and being focused. You showed me how I
actually needed to slow down my reading speed to enable me to speed up.
You also convinced me that the technique to absorb what I was reading would
work if I gave it a chance and opened my mind - and how you demonstrated to
the "non-believer" was very clever! Now I'm a convert - it's amazing.
You also identified my ability to completely glaze over and zone out several
times in one conversation. An issue I never realised I had until you
pointed it out. Again, the technique to overcome this is easy to put into
practice and is very effective so can see that with time I will improve my
ability to know when I'm zoning out and how to remain focused.
Due to the wonderful techniques you have taught me my reading is already
making a noticeable improvement. I no longer get frustrated as I have the
tools to gradually address and eventually overcome the symptoms. The
program's focusing on the underlying causes of dyslexia has opened my eyes
to the way I am and given me the tools to deal with the wider issues.
The use of my natural ability to visualise and create (although needing to
be teased out of me in the earlier part of the week - one of your many
skills as a facilitator) was a fantastic way to learn the definitions of the
trigger words and concepts. The orientation and release tools to focus and
relax are great tools to come away with.
Your studio and garden backing onto the bush, where we did program, is a
very relaxing environment in which to work. Your ability as a facilitator
is excellent, and I say this having been on enough management courses over
the years to provide a comparison. You guided and explained very
effectively and never made me feel uncomfortable and as such created a great
atmosphere for learning. The short duration of each exercise and then
returning to it at a later part of the day was very effective for
maintaining the focus, interest and fun of the process.
In short, an excellent program with some immediate results and the tools for
continual improvement and success.
Year 11 student says: The program helped me understand and helped me to read. It has given me skills I can use in the future. use of the focus point will help me in the future with my study.
