Davis Dyslexia Correction Programs Davis Dyslexia Correction Programs address all learning issues, by treating the source of the issue. The Davis Dyslexia Correction program is suitable for children age 8 and over, and adults of any age. Davis International has been helping people correct their dyslexia since 1987. Davis Facilitators are now in 39 countries worldwide, helping people to correct their dyslexia and other learning difficulties in many countries and in many languages. Davis programs include distinct and separate programs to treat reading problems, inability to do Maths and Attention Mastery program to treat attention deficit in ADD/ADHD. How is this program different from others? The Davis Dyslexia methods address the root cause of learning disabilities, showing the client how to focus, then addressing the source of the issues such as letter confusions, reading, spelling, punctuation and comprehension, or maths or attention deficit concepts. The client uses their natural strengths and talents to learn. This means clients experience positive learning in a fun and supportive environment. Each of the Davis programs, helps the person to gain understanding, so that they can build on this in the future.
Multisensory Approach
The Davis Dyslexia Program uses a multisensory approach to learning. The persons reading and writing skills are improved by resolving confusions related to letters, words, numbers, punctuation. The students use all of the senses to learn. They see, touch, create and visualise, the information they are learning. This normally helps the learning disabilities hugely. It does not depend solely on the listening skill, as school and most other learning methods do. Using a multisensory approach stimulates many parts of the brain and helps to provide long-term retention. This provides a true understanding for the student. It also means that those people that have learning disabilities, reading problems or writing difficulties and were unable to learn at school or using 'sounding-out' techniques, can finally learn to read. They can also comprehend what they are reading or writing. Davis Dyslexia correction programs are an excellent method for visual/spatial learners, allowing the learning disability to be overcome. It is pain-free and effective! The Davis Dyslexia Correction Reading program
This positive, creative program is DESIGNED for the learning style of the visual-spatial person. While many other programs address only the symptoms of the learning disabilities, using tedious drill and repetition, the Davis methods get to the root cause of the learning difficulty and correct it using the natural strengths and talents of the clients personal learning style. Clients will learn HOW THEY can best LEARN, they work on how to focus and control anxiety. All reading problems, spelling difficulties and punctuation are addressed. Comprehension is improved dramatically, by tapping in to the use of their picture thinking ability. Clients leave with a new found confidence, in their abilities and a specific path on how to continue to improve.
Will you or your child do just about anything to avoid reading or writing? If a person avoids doing something, it is usually because they find it hard. So, if the excuse for not reading is, "it's boring" or anything similar to this. This means - "it is hard for me!" But, this can change. Davis Dyslexia methods help eliminate the confusions, allow the person to focus fully, so that the reading can be more accurate and shows them how to use their picture thinking abilities, to put the enjoyment and fun back in reading and writing. Dyslexics think in pictures... What about words that have no picture?
Because dyslexics think in pictures, not with the sounds of words, they have trouble with words that don't produce a mental picture. They are the words like "the," "of" and "for." During the program, students learn how to master these words by modelling their meanings and spellings in clay. If you want to find out more about these methods, please call Bets on 0414 013 490 to discuss the methods in detail. The methods are also detailed in the book The Gift of Dyslexia. What gain can be expected?
There is usually a considerable jump in reading ability. Clients leave the program with some new abilities including:
Why is Dyslexia considered a Gift?
Dyslexia is very much a gift. Thinking in pictures happens much more quickly than thinking in words. Also because of it's non-linear style, thinking "outside the square" is a natural ability for dyslexics. This is why most of the original thinkers and entrepeneurs are dyslexic. This gift also can be used for art, sporting ability, acting, engineering, architecture and many other things. However, the ability to manage the disorientations that occur for most dyslexics when they become confused, is a very important step in ensuring these gifts can be used at the right time and in the right way. Unfortunately, dyslexics also make up a lot of the prision population worldwide. If the genius thinking, is applied in the wrong direction, it can all go very wrong. How much improvement can I expect?
There is normally an improvement of between one and two years by the end of the intensive program. These improvements continue as long as the after program work is completed. The benefits of the Davis programs, are in many areas of life not just in reading.
The disability is not just the difficulty with reading, writing or doing maths. The disability becomes the hiding of these problems and the methods and tactics that are used. This is something which carries through to adulthood. This can be very debilitating.
The consultation will determine if the Davis Program is a suitable solution for the clients learning disabilities and goals. All symptoms are discussed and analysed for suitability. Call Focus on Learning on 0414 013 490 to set up an initial consultation. Learning disabilities need to be treated, so they do not become a debilitating part of someone's life. After the Program The client will leave the program with the all of the tools, understanding, and materials necessary to implement the program into their everyday lives and achieve positive results. Davis Symbol Mastery of 217 trigger words is an essential part of the correction of Dyslexia. Trigger words are small words such as 'it', 'the' 'and' which are usually confusing for a dyslexic, because they seem to have no meaning. These words cause the brain to get distracted and to try to work out a meaning or mental image for each word. Even if the person is unaware of this confusion, it is usually a large part of a dyslexics problem when reading or writing. | ||
